Municipal Waste, a band that many people say imitate the style of Suicidal Tendencies have released a video of Acid Sentence, which comes from their 2009 album Massive Aggressive.

Warning: NSFW: contains some b&w graphic gore.

At The Sword‘s MySpace page, they are streaming the entirety of their forthcoming album, Warp Riders, for free. The album is being released on August 24 (which is only a few days away), and they’re even touring down here in New Zealand in September. Unfortunately, they’re doing a couple of shows with Metallica, so the tickets were sold out in minutes.

Mind you, they’re returning to Australia in February next year, so if they’re well received here in NZ, I’m hoping they’ll come back then.

I’m blasting their album now, and fark it’s good.

Manowar have just announced that they are selling giclee prints of their covers painted by Ken Kelly. Even if you’re not a fan of Manowar, but you love fantasy art (and have a bit of cash spare), then these are worth checking out. You can buy them from the Kingdom of Steel.

So far, the only three listed are Agony & Ecstasy, Triumph of Steel, and Fighting the World, but the video below shows several others including their Hell on Earth covers and Louder Than Hell which I’m hoping are made available soon.

OK so I’ve heard of them since whenever, but as time has gone on any curiosity I had for checking them out was offset by me thinking Zakk Wylde was too much of a munter, growing the big beard and drinking lots of piss (not to mention an album titled like Alcohol Fueled Brewtality), not to mention that awful excuse for a guitar solo at Rock2Wgtn which was as bad as Ozzy himself who was out of time and out of tune.

But recently I scored an mp3 copy of Skullage, and it’s pretty damn good. Didn’t know what was going on with the mellow opening tracks, but found out later it’s a compilation and the two opening tracks were from his pre-Black Label Society works.

Then on the weekend I found it for $15 at JB Hi Fi Wellington, sweet!

I see there is also a compilation Kings Of Damnation 98-04 which I must track down too, the tracklists of that one and Skullage only overlap by a couple of tracks, so I reckon I’ve got things covered once I’ve got that disc as well.

Anyone got any thoughts on which is the best of the studio albums just in case I run across it cheap?

As people presumably have heard, Iron Maiden is announced as the headliner for Australia’s Soundwwave festival late February/early March, as well as a separate arena show in both Sydney and Melbourne.

www.soundwavefestival.com

There’s not a lot of huge interest to me in terms of the other bands at the festival.  Slayer, all good but seen ‘em a lot now. Other than that it’s only Monster Magnet and Melvins that stand out, and there seems to be a bit of a fanbase growing for The Sword.

Speaking of The Sword, they are now announced as one of the support bands, the other being Fear Factory, for Metallica‘s Christchurch gigs (and the other gigs soon before and after those such as Melbourne and Japan).

Back to Soundwave and Maiden – I am committed to seeing them any time they come to this part of the world, so if they are going to play New Zealand I hope it’s announced REALLY soon, because otherwise I’ll be buying tickets to the Adelaide Soundwave (strange as it may seem, it works out better for me than Melb/Syd/Bris).  If I get as far as buying flights and then an NZ gig is announced, I’ll be very un-amused!

Firewind have posted a video teaser of the single, World on Fire, from the forthcoming album Day of Defiance. As you will already know, Firewind‘s lead guitarist is Gus G., who is now Ozzy Osbourne‘s guitarist. I think Gus is a pretty darned interesting player, and it helps that he’s Greek too — not that I’m biased.

Day of Defiance comes out from Century Media on October 26th. The single will be available in digital form on August 17.

Blind Guardian have released a video from their new album, At The Edge of Time. The album was released in Europe on July 30th, and will see a US release on August 24. I better go into the music shop on payday to see which release schedule we’re following. Sometimes we’re lucky enough to get albums at the same time as the European release, depending on the label.

I’d never heard of Dawnbringer before, and that may be because they’re listed as a death metal band, but the sample song off their forthcoming release, Nucleus, is anything but. In fact, this is a great sounding band. I’ve just listened to a few of their older songs on YouTube, and they seem to cover a pretty broad spectrum of the genre. Everything from death/speed/black and traditional metal. Not sure how much of the new album will sound like the clip below, but I’m definitely interested in hunting a copy of this down when it comes out.

Nucleus, due for release on September 21 by Profound Lore Records, is their 4th full length album, and this is the track listing:

  1. So Much For Sleep
  2. You Know Me
  3. The Devil
  4. Swing Hard
  5. Cataract
  6. Like An Earthquake
  7. All I See
  8. Old Wizard
  9. Pendulum

Seems like this is going to be the most metal of all video clips. Sabaton have made a video for their song Uprising, which is about Poland rising up in 1944 and gaining their freedom back from the Nazi invasion. Needless to say, Poland threw some money at them and they managed to make a mini-movie out of it.

If you’re interested, here’s the making-of video:

And here’s a promo:

The full video is set to air in Poland on August 1st, which is yesterday from New Zealand’s point of view, but we’re ahead of the rest of the planet. Hopefully somebody will record it and post it online soon.
