The latest episode of the Radioactive Metal podcast has an interview with Anthrax‘s Joey Belladonna.

This episode of RADIOACTIVE METAL Originally aired on PURE ROCK RADIO July 15th, 2010. The show is smack dab in the middle of CANADIAN METAL MONTH but when a member of “THE BIG FOUR” calls, ya gotta accept the charges. For this episode “we interrupt our regular scheduled broadcast” to bring you an interview with returning ANTHRAX vocalist JOEY BELLADONNA. We discuss with “The Man” all that’s going on in the ‘Thrax camp and his solo ventures. Naturally this episode morphed into a “spotlight” episode and we crank some awesome ‘Thrax trax. Horns Up!!!

Marty Friedman, former guitarist for Megadeth, has released a video from his forthcoming album. The song is Bad D.N.A. and is the title track of the CD. It’s due to be released in Japan on August 25.

This is just bad. Clearly it’s only aimed at the Japanometal market. I seriously don’t know what to make of this.

First off, Dee has an upcoming TV series called Growing Up Twisted — a reality show because we haven’t had enough of those *cough* — and most likely, as a not very subtle way of promoting it, he made an appearance on America’s Got Talent, joining in as a guest singer singing I Wanna Rock.

I don’t doubt that most of the audience had no idea who he was. It’s certainly a big step from defending heavy metal against the lunatics of the PMRC in the ’80s to being on a TV show promoting music for their nation’s children.

The TV series, Growing Up Twisted, is a 7 episode show which starts airing on July 27 in the States. And apparently Dee will be the mellow one. I’m a huge Dee Snider fan, so if this show hits our shores on DVD, then I’ll pick up a copy. Watching something in weekly installments is so 20th century.

I’ve been loving Grand Magus‘ new album Hammer of the North, and I will review it sometime soon. But in the meantime, here’s an interview with them. Audio quality is a bit shit and the cameraman needs to sit the fuck down, but good interview nonetheless:

Now this is teh awesome. Next month’s issue of Metal Hammer has a 3D cover with Iron Maiden‘s Final Frontier cover art. In addition to that it comes with a Final Frontier mousepad. Hits shelves on July 28. Don’t know if that’s worldwide or just the UK. We usually get them a month or so behind here in New Zealand.

More blah blah on their announcement, but what you really want to see is the cover. Fuck yeah:

Hydrogyn, a band that includes James Lomenzo as bassist — who has worked with Megadeth and Zakk Wylde in the past — and Jeff Young — lead guitarist on Megadeth‘s So Far, So Good, So What? — is doing something a little different.

First off, they’re releasing a 1000 copy limited edition of their forthcoming album Judgement. It’s set to ship in October, at the same time as the regular release, but for pre-ordering the first 1000 will get some unannounced bonuses.

To top that off, in their new weekly video blog, they mention a forthcoming USB stick release. I’m not sure how different it will be, but it’s an interesting idea. I’ve thought for a while that we’re long overdue for a new format. Maybe USB sticks won’t be it, but stepping out of the norm is a good move in my opinion.

Jamie Woods, the guy who petitioned to get Metallica down to Christchurch, missed out on a ticket for himself. I have to admit that the irony made me laugh my arse off (well, not completely off because I have plenty spare). But I can say that it would have ripped my undies had I been in his position.

What did astound me is that Gaytallica fans sold the first show out in 5 minutes, and the second in 28 minutes.

I won’t feel any sorrow for Jamie, though, until he puts his thumb away when throwing the horns.
